While our uniform guidelines were relaxed following the AirTran/Southwest merger, it is important that flight attendants still maintain a professional image while in uniform. The Company has become concerned with many instances of flight attendants failing to adhere to even the new relaxed guidelines. Further, only approved uniform items provided for AirTran may be worn while on duty. Failure to comply could result in disciplinary action.
That being said, we are well aware that many uniform pieces (and replacement pieces) are not being made available any longer. While we continue to bring these concerns to the Company, in the interim we are attempting to facilitate a possible alternate solution.??
A facebook group entitled “AirTran Uniforms” has been set up. Below is a direct link to that group:??
www.facebook.com/groups/434258129918294/
The group is intended for one reason - for AirTran flight attendants to buy, sell, swap, exchange, donate, etc. their uniform pieces to/from other AirTran flight attendants. We think this may prove helpful as flight attendants begin to partition to the Southwest side of the operation, and no longer need their AirTran uniform pieces.??
Keep in mind that the “AirTran Uniforms” group will only receive limited administration and moderation. The only requirement to join is that one be an AirTran (or partitioning) flight attendant, and all who join may post there. Please encourage fellow flight attendants to join the group, as the more we have involved, the more pieces may be exchanged.??
However, this group is NOT intended for questions regarding the Southwest uniform program, or transitioning Southwest uniform pieces. Those questions should be sent directly to a Union or Inflight Leader. All AFA Council 57 leadership contact information may be found on our website www.afaairtran.com.
