As we reenter contract negotiations, it is important that we also redevelop and reengage our Mobilization Committee (Mobilizers).

To that end we are seeking a new Mobilization Committee Chairperson. This important role requires a unique individual. In addition to being a member of AFA in good standing, specific characteristics of a great Mobilization Chair include:

• Highly self-motivated
• Flexible
• Self confident
• Excellent public speaker
• Excellent organization skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

In addition, a Mobilization Chair should have a general knowledge of:

• The Railway Labor Act (RLA)
• Understand the oversight of airline unions by the National Mediation Board (NMB)
• Our current and past Collective Bargaining Agreements
• The Negotiations Process at AirTran/Southwest

Finally, any applicant for the role of Mobilization Chair should be willing to commit the next 12 months to the position.
